Genealogy of the Hales of Kent

When Stuart Hales married Olive Pakenham Mahon in 1921 it was thought in some quarters that Olive had married 'beneath her'. This genealogy suggests that the Hales family made some effort to prove their own aristocratic baring. The fact that both Stuart Hales and his father changed their names to Hales-Pakenham-Mahon does suggest some acknowledgement of the higher status of the Pakenham Mahons of Strokestown.
