Olive’s Will

Date:
c.1905

Description:

Olive's will gives a clear impression of what she held dear as a little girl. She mentions her friends Marjorie, Elsie (Marjorie's sister) and Joan. She mentions her dolls, games, toys, tea set, and teddy. She is concsious of the hereditary nature of some of her possesions, mentioning her 'little bits' of jewellery, which she is free to give away, and her 'family jewellery' the fate of which 'mother and father (if they still live) are to decide'. They are also to decide what is to be done with the pony and carridge. We see that Olive has a keen sense of her own mortality (since she is making a will), and that of her parents.
